Day 3- Spin Class

NOTE: I've decided that I will not be having a "cheat day" until Thanksgiving, that's ten days straight no cheating. I hope to weigh 118 Thanksgiving morning. At that point, I'll decide when my next cheat day will be :p

November 20, 2013 : 120.8 lbs this morning; I've gained since yesterday, but hoping it's normal fluctuation. I won't get too frustrated just yet.

9 am breakfast: One slice whole grain bread w/ peanut butter
11 am snack: 25 almonds
1pm snack: 1 fruit and nut bar
4pm snack: small bowl honey bunches cereal
5:30pm: 1/2 scoop adrenaline pre-workout

6:15: SPIN CLASS @ Gold's Gym My Spin Class FB

7:20 Cafe Rio - Here's where it gets hard. I want to continue going out to eat with my friends, but the challenge is choosing healthier options and not giving into temptation! Today I got the Wednesday Special, Chicken Tostada, but with a wheat tortilla, and without cheese or beans. I substituted sour cream for guacamole. I also only used 1/2 of a small house dressing container, instead of the full thing. All together, the meal probably still wasn't the best, but my combined choices almost cut the total calories in half! (Even more, if you consider that I subbed soda for water)

Day 2 - Power Pump

I followed the advice of my Spin instructor last night and went to bed starving. It's funny how my body has adjusted to expect popcorn, ice cream, or sour patch kids late at night! Peppermint tea just wasn't cutting it. But, the hunger was worth it, because I woke up this morning weighing 120.1! That's 1.7 pounds lighter than yesterday!! I realize that I probably won't see that much weight loss overnight ever again, but it was a great motivator to keep it up. :)

Today, November 18, 2013, marks three months since I married the love of my life! The past 90 or so days have been amazing and wonderful, BUT I must admit it's not as easy to "diet" when you're living with an extremely active and hungry hunk of man ;) I've slowly but surely gained some newlywed weight that I am determined to shed  in the next 90 days! Unfortunately, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's all lie within the next three months, so this will NOT BE EASY, but I've procrastinated this one too many times already and I know that if I can work up the motivation to be better during the holiday season it will be that much easier to keep up the healthy habits in 2014.

I am 21 years old, 5'3'', and according to my Spin instructor's fancy gadget, hanging on to about 21.5% body fat. This morning I weighed 121.1 and I have been fluctuating in that range for over a month now. My starting goal is to weigh 115 lbs by January 17th, and most importantly, to still weigh 115 lbs by Valentine's Day 2014. I will occasionally post my typical diet and workout regimen, and even post (embarrassing) progress pics once a month to keep me motivated. Here goes!

CANCUN HONEYMOON

So, one of the days we were laying out on the beach I looked over to catch Ben furiously typing a LONG note into my phone. He wouldn't let me read it at the time of course, but I later found the following: (This is Ben's version of our honeymoon adventures, he has no idea I'm posting this online, so anything you see that looks like this: 👍 had to be edited out! Also, ignore any grammatical errors, this is iPhone language)

Honeymoon in Cancun
Day 1 August 17th - Vdara hotel in Las Vegas.  👍
August 18th - left hotel at 5 and got to Vegas airport to head to cancun. made it to Phoenix and then got excellent seats (exit row) on the way to cancun. patty hooked us up. we
made friends with another honeymoon couple at the money exchange. we are a way hotter couple. we flew for 4 hours on a kinda cold flight but when we stepped into the cancun sun it felt like a sauna! we took a yellow cab to our hotel and the check in was great. we got a really cool room with a balcony. 👍 we went to a fantastic seafood dinner and the salmon was super good. we wanted dessert so we explored the other resort we have access to and found las Fuentes restaurant buffet and enjoyed some dessert. after that we went on a little stroll to find other fun stuff about our resort. 👍
August 19th - we woke up early 👍 after that we took a real nap until we were hungry for breakfast. :) breakfast was pretty good and they have an omelette station that is bomb.  after food we went back to the room and mace took a well needed rest and I hit the gym. 💪 after that we hit the beach!! yay!! water is so warm and sand is so white and soft! best beach ever! mace even swam with me! :) we stayed there for a couple hours and had plenty of miami vices, pina coladas, and strawberry daquiris. we then made our way to the other pool cause it's way more rad. we had some lunch and mace got in trouble for wearing a swimsuit at a beach lunch haha. food was ok and we sat by the pool for awhile and soaked in the sun and fun. we went back to the beach and played around for awhile. after that we decided to head back to the room and get ready for a fancy dinner. 👍 we got all ready and dinner was pretty awesome! rib eye steak. we went to las Fuentes to see what they had and of course they were having a Mexican fiesta and had tacos al pastor and churros! we got some of those and headed back to the room. 👍
August 20th - we slept in big time. then we went to breakfast at las Fuentes and it was really good. 👍
when we woke up to go to the beach there was a huge storm so we slept again. after another hour or so we went out, got some lunch, and made it to the beach. all the Mexican workers love me and think it's awesome that I speak such good Spanish. The beach day was a success of course and we love that the ocean is as warm as the hot tub at our resort! :\ Dinner was delicious and our favorite restaurant is bogavante which is a reataurant with a perfect ocean view.  We went for a walk after 👍
August 21st - today was our early day. we got up at 6 and went to breakfast. we went to the tour place to book a tour for Xel-ha and tulum. it was a little hectic and the prices were a little different than we thought but we be on vacation and don't curr much. :) we were the only whities headed on the tour and that was fun. we made it to tulum after an hour and a half on the bus. what a cool place! our tour guide was awesome! Delio was his name. Tulum was incredible. we got there and took a tractor trolley to the entrance. doesn't get much more Mexican than that. :) we walked through the north wall entrance and the view was awesome. people lived there from 1100-1600 A.D.  we saw temples, houses, ancient mayan calendars, and tons of iguanas! it was crazy. the beach was so pretty too! after two hours there we went to find some souvenirs and got on the bus to Xel-ha. soooo Xel-ha is pretty much an amazing outdoor, natural waterpark with almost everything you can imagine! rope swings, cliff jumps, snorkeling with fish, crabs, stingrays (mace is super fond of those), dolphins, manatees, etc. sooo cool! we ate and then took the trail to the river head. we got our snorkeling gear and got on our tube. it was fun floating down the river. then we went to the cliff jump and it was sweet. Mace went off twice and i was so happy she did. :) we also climbed the cliff back up to jump off again and mace was the only girl I saw do the whole thing. my baby is legggggit! we got back in our tube and did the balance rope, zip lines, and snorkeling. we took our gear back, got a quick bite, and headed down the other trail. we saw some cool animals that mace called "perritos." :) they were like meerkats or something. Xel-ha was amazing. we were really glad we went! we got home and had our best dinner with our best waiter Ulisses. he introduced us to a new drink called the banana sexy. so good! 👍 snoozed.

August 22nd - our last full day. we woke up and got breakfast followed by a good nap. ;) we headed to the beach and it was so sunny and beautiful out. we seriously lucked out. :) we hung out there for awhile and the sand and ocean is something we will both miss I'm sure. we got a snack after (which proved to make us both pretty sick) and went to the royal's pool cause it's was cooler. Mace got a spa treatment after that and I went to the gym.  we wanted to go to dinner at bogavante but it had the same menu as two nights before. we went to the Veneto restaurant and that was a good experience. our waiter was way cool and found out it was our honeymoon so he prepared us a special dessert! a type of bananas foster that was delicious 👍... 😁 we ate it up so fast haha. we went on a little walk after that, but we kinda started feeling sick so we went to bed. 👍 good day.
August 23rd - last day of our amazing honeymoon. :( we woke up and we both were a little queasy but we braved breakfast and it was good. the day was overcast...again so lucky. haha. we packed up and rested...for reals...no naps. ;) we checked out and headed to cancun airport. I spat my Spanish friendliness and we got exit row seats again! everything about this honeymoon was so perfect and we had so much fun! a perfect first week to start a perfect eternity together!

#WINNING

Quick update: I’ve decided that keeping up with a blog while working, going to school, and wedding-ing is definitely not as easy as I initially thought it would be. Especially since I don’t have Internet access at my apartment for the moment. SO… I’m only going to blog about big events for now, and probably not until weeks after they actually occur! Just beware that a bridal shower/ bachelorette party/ new house post will come.. Eventually.. Maybe. J

ANYWAYS: The BIG news that I am so excited to share is that I AM A WINNER! Yea, those contests that “no one actually has a shot at winning”, well, I won one. A SWEET one. I won a CARIBBEAN HONEYMOON from WedAlert Honeymoons.
Here is the proof:

I’m wicked excited, because Ben and I love to travel, especially to beaches, and we will definitely LOVE all the relaxing getaway time we can get as newlyweds (in between all of our busy-ness, and before any kids or grown-up real life hits us.) It’s also such a blessing to not have to worry about saving up so much for such an amazing vacation!

The moral of the story is that I’m pretty much the luckiest and busiest girl in the world right now, I get married in 11 days, and WedAlert rocks.

PS: The pic is from mine and Ben's Newport trip last week with his family, SO FUN!

Things I Love About Ben (list compiled in my journal Valentine’s Day ’13):

Mace Ann Haycock is ENGAGED!!!

Who: Benjamin Lewis Camp
What: The most beautiful, secretive, detailed, sparkly, floral, surprising, sunny, sweet, wonderful proposal in the whole wide world :)
Where: Thanksgiving Point Gardens
When: Thursday, April 25, 2013 (during the Tulip Festival at the Gardens)
How: I’ll start out by saying I COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE SURPRISED! I had absolutely no idea this was coming and here’s why: I was positive that Ben would not have asked for my hand in marriage without first talking to my dad and getting his permission… That being said, Ben went on a business trip with Response to the Buying Summit in Las Vegas two weeks ago-. He flew there with management, had a packed schedule, texted me consistently what he was “doing”, AND I knew my dad was supposed to be in Reno that weekend anyway. So little did I know, my mom picked Ben up at the Venetian for a two-hour lunch break to meet my dad right as he was getting in from Reno.  After a slightly intimidating, but mostly sentimental conversation, my dad gave Ben his blessing and my mom cried tears of joy that he “passed the test”.
Ben proceeded to tell me a handful of little white lies for the next two weeks and I continued to drop hints about NOT wanting a short engagement. My stress level was rising every day we hadn’t planned a trip to Vegas and the whole time Ben was just laughing to himself I’m sure.
On Monday, April 22, Ben told me that he was going to take me on a surprise date in Salt Lake that coming Thursday. He told me it was going to be a relaxing, fun, celebration that finals were over, but I knew he really wanted to do something sweet just so I wouldn’t be mad that he was going on a 7-day cruise with three other attractive, SINGLE, guys two days later. ;) He told me that he didn’t want to give it away, but that I might want to dress up a little bit, because we were going to some kind of concert, or show or something. (He also convinced Lauren to do my eyelashes before she left for Vegas on Wednesday without me knowing somehow.)
Ben picked me up from work at 3:30. We drove to the Gardens at Thanksgiving Point first, which I thought was a sweet surprise, since I had never been there before and it was BEAUTIFUL outside. I couldn’t think of more perfect place or person to spend the afternoon with. Once I freed up enough space on my memory-crammed iPhone, I started taking pictures of pretty much everything I saw, typical me. I’m sure Ben was really anxious the whole time, but I had NO idea what was coming. He played it off so well, I didn’t even see the ring-size adjusters fall out of his shirt pocket, or his mom and two cousins creeping around after us! ;P I snapped tons and tons of tulip pictures (some almost matching the color of my boyfriend’s hair) , some “selfies”, and even posted my first Vine then, totally oblivious.
Eventually we made our way to THE SECRET GARDEN… It’s this beautiful secluded garden area with a fountain (my favorite) and a charming entrance (my second favorite). Ben and I took a seat on a bench near the most adorable old couple. I remember Ben asking me something like if I thought we would be like those cute old people walking around the garden one day. I held back a couple of tears then, thank heaven, because I STILL did not know what was going to happen next, I just thought that was a really sweet thing for him to say. We stood up and walked into the main area where the fountain was right after that and he asked me if I thought we were going to be happy for a very long time. To which I responded “I think so… actually I know so”, then he told me that he knew we would be too and he said “I have a question for you” as he was reaching into his shirt pocket! All I can remember right then is thinking: There is NO way this is happening over and over again. I was in such shock I didn’t notice all of the people watching us, and I can’t even really remember all that he said… something like “I love you…Mace Ann Haycock… will you marry me?” and just like that he was on one knee and the only thing I could say was yes (apparently over and over again). Then in a split second I seemed like we were hugging and I was crying and I had a rock on my finger and cameras were everywhere. Everything was perfect. I had a fiancé, and my happily ever after had begun.
